Jule is a Master’s student at the Department of Science and Technology Studies, currently working on her thesis in collaboration with the INNORES project. Her research investigates the Norwegian government’s decision to open its continental shelf to ‘critical’ raw material exploration, proposing its deep-sea bed as a new frontier for resource extraction. Through this case study, her thesis explores how justification narratives and legitimacy are negotiated and contested in emerging spaces for resource extraction.
In addition to her research, Jule works as a teaching assistant at the Department of Science and Technology Studies, where she supports STS Master’s students and assists with course preparation.
Before beginning her Master’s studies at the University of Vienna, Jule completed an interdisciplinary Bachelor’s degree at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. Her academic background encompasses international relations, politics, policy, and public administration. For her Bachelor’s thesis, she focused on the upscaling of sustainable technologies, specifically direct air capture.
